Shedd Aquarium was a little out of my age group and more suited for the 2-12 age group. I know. I may act like a 12 year old but it doesn’t mean I like looking at fishes at my age. The only fishes I like to see are the ones on my plate. Anyway, this was the first attraction I saw in Chicago and I spent too much time here in my opinion.

First, the Shedd Aquarium is located right next to the lake and the Field Museum. The Observatory is down the street, so you could kill three birds with one stone. The Shedd is in a gorgeous piece of architecture and the first thing you noticed when you walk in is its high ceiling lobby.

Secondly, the 2nd thing you will notice is the screaming kids and you would be shocked by the large number of them. I felt like I was in a zombie apocalypse trying to fight for my life. I was kicking, punching, elbowing and shooting my way through those little bastards. Don’t get me wrong. I like kids and adore my friends’ kids. However, it’s only because there are a few of them at a time and they don’t scream at the top of their lungs. If they do, I’ll lock them in a closet and take a nap. Plus, I could return them after I’m done using them to pick up women at the mall.

Thirdly, there are a number of rare species of fishes at the Shedd. Each exhibit is separated by different themes like Caribbean Reef, Amazon Rising, Asian Persuasion, Halal Back Girl, Latino Heat, and Once You Go Black You Don’t Go Back. It’s pretty interesting and I was told multiple times to not tap the tank and say “fishy fishy.” I personally didn’t see the issue with it but apparently the fishes don’t like it. Whatever. I don’t like you, Mrs Party Pooper.

Lastly, Shedd was a good experience and it’s perfect for a day with the kids or even a date. Also, you should buy the CityPASS cause you will save a tremendous amount of money (i.e., 53% off of attractions) if you’re bringing the wife/husband and kids. I’ve made many mistakes in my life and fortunately being married with children isn’t one of them yet.
