The Golden Unicorn is located in Chinatown. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor and it’s a fairly large restaurant for New York since everything in New York is the size of my truck bed. I’ve eaten Dim Sum in the following cities including New York:
- Vancouver, Canada
- Lima, Peru
- Macau, Macau SAR
- Shanghai, China
- Philadelphia, PA
- Beijing, China
- Washington DC
- Seattle, WA
- Boston, MA
- Taipei, Taiwan
- San Francisco, CA
- Orange County, CA
- Los Angeles, CA
- Las Vegas, NV
- Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong SAR
- Seoul, South Korea
- Melbourne, Australia
- Sydney, Australia
- Chicago, IL
- San Diego, CA
- San Jose, CA
- Cranford, NJ
I came here for Dim Sum cause New York Dim Sum was on my bucket list. The restaurant is located a few blocks from the two bridges. Unfortunately for Jesse Watters and Bill O’Reilly, the Chinese workers here all spoke perfect English and understood what we were requesting.
First off, the service is pretty standard to your typical Chinese restaurant. In other words, the service is pretty standard if you compare it to other Asian restaurants where they don’t really care about your needs like how most Americans doesn’t care about tool bags Bill O’Reilly and Jesse Watters.
Now, the dim sum. The dim sum wasn’t the best I’ve had.
- Shiu Mai – The shiu mai was top with roe. The shiu mai’s issue was dryness; it lacked the flavorful and juicy bite. However, it was still had more interesting things about it than Jesse Watters’ attempt to ridicule people who can’t defend themselves.
Shiu Mai - Fried Dumplings – Pan fried on the spot. The overly stuff dumplings were oily as most Chinese foods; the dumplings derives most of its flavors from the oils. However, it lacked any depth like Bill O’Reilly’s show.
Fried Dumplings - Shrimp Dumplings – This was probably the best dish out of everything we ordered. The dumplings had a good bite to them and flavorful. The smaller than normal portion was the only negative about them as they sat in a wooden steam tray. The flavors were interesting and made me wonder about their origins like every source Bill O’Reilly cites.
Shrimp Dumplings
Overall, Golden Unicorn wasn’t memorable or terrible. It was slight below than average attempt at dim sum. I don’t think I would recommend dim sum at Golden Unicorn like how I wouldn’t recommend Jesse Watters show his face in Los Angeles’ Chinatown.
