Beer Belly & LA’s Koreatown

Beer Belly.  It speaks to me more than you know.  It’s a constant reminder of my daily challenges of not being able to see my own shoes when I look down.  It’s a blessing and a curse.  Most people say it’s a curse but I don’t really pay attention to Negative Nancy or Debbie Downer.

Apparently, Beer Belly was featured on the Food Network, which I did not know.  I don’t watch too much TV, so I was a little taken back when someone said we landed a man on the moon.  I was like “WHHATT?!  I’m going to be the first to review the moon.”

Anyway, Beer Belly is a Gastropub and their food substantiates that.  We had the Pork Belly Chips and the Duck Fat Fries.  Both account for your sodium intake for the rest of your life.  Seriously.

The Pork Belly Chips were pretty interesting.  It tasted like pork rinds in that it was salty and crispy.  However, the interior was soft like Drake.  Just hold on.. We’re going home.  It’s hard to do these things alone.  It was extremely salty and the provided sauce kind of negates the saltiness.  Kind of.

The Duck Fat Fries was different.  It came with cranberries and spicy ketchup as dipping sauce.  The cranberries was a nice touch and the sweetness blended well with the saltiness and crispiness of the fries.  I didn’t like the spicy ketchup much cause the spiciness was kind of annoying.  It’s like when someone uploads a crap load of pictures on Instagram at once and clogs up your feed.  You’re thinking to yourself “I know you’re there and I saw the 6 pictures you JUST uploaded 20 seconds ago.  Were these extra 5 selfies necessary?!?”  So you hit that mofo with an unfollow!

Beer Belly had a good beer selection relatively speaking to other K-Town spots.  There were a few craft selections that came in cans and bottles.  The waitress, Jessica, was kind enough to let us try different beers, so being a bunch of opportunists we tried as many as possible until we had a good buzz.

The service.  Jessica was really nice and had food/beer recommendations.  She checked up on us regularly and was nice enough to bring out multiple beer samples.  Overall, I thought the food was okay, but I really liked their beer selections and service.  Therefore, Beer Belly gets 4* in my book and for being a constant reminder of my daily challenges.  Now, I’m thinking of why did I buy Jordan kicks when I can’t even see them when I look down.

Summary

Beer Belly is more than a body part but it’s a gastropub that contributes to the body part. The food is greasy and the beers are flowing so what more can someone ask for in life?
