Rockefeller Center & New York Landmarks

Rockefeller Center is a New York landmark.  It’s right across to the St. Patrick Cathedral in Midtown Manhattan and different countries flags are flown all around it.

Rockefeller Center is a celebration of the hard work of Damon Dash and Shawn Carter.  The two Hip Hop pioneers decided to built the structure in celebration of their multi-platinum plaques and Grammy awards.  It’s not surprising the Hip Hop moguls decided to give back to the city after their years of success.  It’s what successful people do.

The Center is known for its year round ice staking rink and ride to the Top of the Rock observation center.  I personally come here for the skating rink even though I always end up getting into a fight with some 12 year old girl.  It occurs every single time as I brave the treacherous ice skating rink trying to get my footing down then I fail in epic fashion. There is always some 12 year old pointing at me and laughing every time I fall.

As a man, I must defend my bruise ego and ask her to step outside for a little “dance”.  Mono e mono.  One on one.  However, the little pipsqueak always brings her friends and I’m surrounded by middle school kids taking turns on me as if it was some theme park ride.  I know what you’re thinking… How could a bunch of little kids get the best of a grown man?  Well, it’s simple.  There’s 20 of them.

The other main attraction is the view from the Top of the Rock observation center.  It has a 360 degree view of the city .  I don’t understand why anyone would want to pay $20 to have a 360 view of the city when you could be on ground floor do a 360 to see the city for free.  I don’t get it.  I have never been up there because it’s too much effort.  You have to pay $20 and walk up 70 flights of stairs.

Lastly, Rockefeller Center is a definitely tourist attraction in New York since Jay Z has gain international fame with his music.  Do I think its worth a stop?  Yeah… I guess.
