Del Taco and Chipotle WATCH OUT! There’s a new sheriff in town. Taco Bell is authentic as you can get, folks. It’s Ciudad De Mexico authentic. It’s the little mom and pop taco stand on Paseo de la Reforma in CDMX, DF. Everything from the logo to the tacos screams La Raza.
The service is Michelin 3* standard. Michelin is going to have to add a 4th star category for this place. The service was professional and welcoming from the moment I walked into the door until the moment I stepped out the restaurant. The server made sure I had an exceptional experience. He even asked me if I wanted a drink with my courses and made sure to remind me there are free refills on fountain drinks. Phenomenal. I tell you.
Now, the food. I was going to go with the tasting menu aka Dollar Cravings Menu but I decided to save some money and go with a la carte items. Taco Bell uses the finest organic ingredients imported from Mexico. I believe they started the whole Farm to Table movement. Vegans go crazy over this place.
Doritos Cheesy Gordita – They use a freaking Doritos chip as a taco shell and a soft taco tortilla wrapped on the outside. The texture of the tortilla is similar to a pita bread. I know. What an AMAZING concept? The innovation and creativity around this dish is the epitome of Gastronomical Haute Cuisine. Chef Achatz and Alinea better watch out. It’s comforting and innovative.
Quesarito – This dish dates back to the Mayan civilization. The rebirth of the dish was rumored to be at El Castillo at Chichen Itza, so the folklore goes. It was extremely popular along the beach cities of Mexico. It’s beef subtleties and robust cheese flavor originated from Rosarito. Hence, Cheese + Rosarito = Quesarito.
Quesalupa – It’s been an aged old debate about were this dish originated and whether it was the product of the Aztecs. They used to serve this cuisine in large quantities at Teotihuacán pyramids. The cheese used in this aged old dish has a very spicy/peppery and tangy taste on the palate. The seasoned beef, lettuce, tomatoes and reduced-fat sour cream are a great compliment to the spicy and tangy cheese. This popular dish came from the city of Guadalupe. Cheese + Guadalupe = Quesalupa.
Mexican Pizza – This dish draws its influences from classic Italian cuisine. In other words, the pizza. It’s New York’s best pizza on steroids, son. They use a crispy tostada like shell to replace the dough and organic certified refried beans as the sauce. They add a layer of seasoned beef imported from Japan then gluten free three cheese blend and ripe baby tomatoes to top it off. Muy Bien Appetito, puto!
MUST TRY.
